Zac Brown Band’s John Driskell Hopkins Gives Update On His Fight Against ALS

Zac Brown Band‘s John Driskell Hopkins was diagnosed with ALS – also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease – in December 2021. In a new interview with People, the three-time Grammy winner emphasizes the importance of perseverance, and says that despite the physical challenges of his ailment, he remains committed to making music and touring with the band. Hopkins’ foundation, Hop on a Cure, has contributed over $4 million in ALS research grants. Even as the disease slows him down, Hopkins continues to perform, support his family, and spread awareness about ALS, finding strength in the love and support of his fans. “For me, keeping going is really important,” explains Hopkins. “I feel like if I did sit in a recliner and played the whole ‘woe is me’ card, I would be a lot worse off.” (People)
